Diet and Exercise: Keep It Simple

If you want to adopt a healthier lifestyle, don't pay too much attention to individual foods or nutrients. Instead, focus on a balanced diet and good exercise habits.

When starting out, it's important not to go overboard. Instead of "cutting out" foods, first try "cutting down" portions:

  • For dinner, eat half your usual 10- or 12-ounce steak.
  • Take the skin off the chicken.
  • Reduce the amount of saturated fats.
  • Pay attention to how often you eat fast food and cut this number in half. Order the healthier meals on the menu and don't "super-size" them.
  • Try whole grains instead of processed grains
  • Limit eggs to no more than three or four yolks a week.

For those of you who have begun to exercise, don't give up! Keep these things in mind:

  • Do some form of aerobic exercise three to four times per week for at least 30 minutes.
  • Getting fit and trimming down takes time. how long did it take to put on those 10, 20...40 extra pounds?

With an improved diet and regular exercise you should become more fit and healthy long into the future.
